The education system in this country is very rigid and regulated. The national curriculum itself was designed to offer some flexibility but it is confusing, especially for overseas parties who have not experienced using the system themselves. for those hoping to come to teach in UK then it is absolutely essential to understand the state examination system to enable you to check how good your prospective school actually is.
The education system has four pajor parts to it. primary, secondary, further & higher education. From about 5-15 years old, a child must attend primary and secondary education – this is the law. These are known as the key stages and these are further broken down as KS1, 5 to 7 year olds , KS2 7-11 year olds, KS3 is 11-14 year olds and KS4 is 14-16 year olds years 10 to 11. These are broken down as the earlier 2 Key stages ar taken in anything up to age 11 when the student takes the latter two. Throughout the educatinal years the student takes exams at the end of the academic year and these results help the student. There are SATS exams maths and english too. Every school educated child has access to a wealth of teaching styles and breadth of teaching knowledge from all the staff who work so hard to present these learning environment.
